23/08/24 Video: La générale – Parc des Brigittines
WBA is continuing its collaboration with Jonathan Ortegat - an architectural video-maker and photographer - to promote the architecture of Wallonie-Bruxelles Architectures internationally. The aim of the video clips produced is to showcase contemporary projects built by FWB architects on an international scale.
This time we invite you to discover le Parc des Brigittines by La Générale.
Générale's architects have transformed the triangular plot of residual land squeezed between an L-shaped high-rise block of social housing and the elevated railway tracks of the Jonction Nord-Midi, to create the new Brigittines park. This outdoor space, which incorporates play, craftsmanship and shared territoriality, is open both to the building's residents and to the general public.
This project is based on four key concepts: the slab, the workshop, the wall and the plain. As an interface between private and public spaces, the concrete slab in the corner of the high-rise block has been painted with colourful moving snakes by artist Vincent Glowinski, and planted with a symbolic tree at its centre. On the south side is the shared workshop, designed with recycled bricks and topped by family vegetable plots accessible to residents. The wall between the slab and the plain becomes a catalyst for encounters, designed as a support for the slides and other recreational structures on the plain below. The plain, featuring trees and winding benches, is a space dedicated to appropriation and open to the city.
To produce this video, Jonathan Ortegat called on a team comprising Jeanne Debarsy for the sound, Loup Mormont for the music, Jean Forest for the graphics and Lucien Keller for the colourimetry.
