The parcel presents some singularities with regard to the whole site concerned by the rehabilitation project. Located to the west, it belongs to the grain of the housing blocks rather than to that of the industrial wasteland strictly speaking. The ambiguity of this block, divided between housing and industry, raises the question of scale, on the one hand, and the symbolic status of the entrance to the site on the other.

Rather than staggering the edge of the block in multiple templates, the project proposes a horizontal line. This horizontal line resonates by alternating with the linearity of the Bourse du Travail. It solidifies the geometries at work in this ensemble undergoing reconversion, geometries relayed in the treatment of the public space of the boulevard de l'Usine and supported by the linear gardens.

At the end of the new horizontal building, an articulation ensures that the party line is taken care of while providing a generous void that will allow for the maintenance of light qualities for the gardens of the neighboring houses. This articulation creates a corner space that we propose to return to the public space. The vertical building provides the second entrance to the site from the west courtyard. Between the two entrances is a semi-public linear garden.
