- About
- The Théâtre Océan Nord is designed and produced by a multidisciplinary team that seeks to nurture the relationship between design and production. Artists, architects, theorists, craftsmen, and theater managers work together, exchanging their roles and experiences. Some speak of residency, others of vernissage; we speak of construction site of course, but also of experimentation on the material or of article to write.[...]
The economic constraints of the theater and the already very vibrant identity of the old garage orient the project towards an implementation that knows how to seize the opportunities of the building site and leaves room for randomness. The concrete bar is cast in a formwork made with the removal of the old bar. Tinted in the mass by different layers of dyes, it will reveal the finished shape of its blue waves when the formwork is removed. For the velvet curtains recovered from the theater's stocks, it will be a question of absorbing its stains by a game of bleach discoloration.
It is a project where materials and colors are expressed generously thanks to the simplicity of the architectural choices that structure the basic project. It is a project that welcomes the hazard as a timely response to the constraints of the site and the economy of the project. It is a project that holds in the personal investment of all the actors, and that draws its strength from the discussions and the time spent together and in the place in situation.
