Description

EDA-AU develops an approach that crosses scales: from a reading of the territory to an implantation that makes sense with the local and global context. From a volumetry that is formed by the constraints and potentialities of the programme and the site, to spatial relationships. Natural light and materials are the two materials that complete the intention. The office develops expertise in these last two areas through research that links theory and practice. In recent years, our office has opted for a design philosophy based on exchange and feedback from the field, through craftsmen, local producers, inhabitants and users. With these actors, we have co-designed and co-constructed our latest projects. The reality of the field, the availability of materials and financial means have modified our methods which can sometimes, even often, impose a well thought out idea which then suffers to find its justification in the complexity of the world. This complexity has become a source of inspiration. It shows us the way.
