- Situated on a former convent estate from the 1950s in Genk, the project encompasses 45 new homes. These residences are divided into three housing typologies: three apartment buildings, six three-level townhouses, and five two-level terraced houses, all nestled within the gardens of the former convent.[...]
- About
- The project proposal emphasizes the significance of the relationship between the built environment and the surrounding gardens. The existing landscape serves as a central element for both the site and the houses. The project offers various ways of living within distinct garden spaces, including the vegetable garden, the central meeting garden, and the butterfly garden.[...]
This unique landscape preserves a lush green density, creating intriguing transitions between public and private areas of the garden.
To anchor the project on a larger scale and ambition, a public pedestrian and bicycle path is integrated. This new passageway connects to the student cycle path and will be handed over to the city as part of Genk's active mobility network, reinforcing the neighborhood's green character. The implementation of this slow mobility path adds porosity to the urban plot, offering new connections to the urban fabric.
