Description

Words “Pragmatism – rationalism” are the best words to describe the work of A229. Founded in Brussels in 2005, the studio’s production is based mainly on sustainable public projects.
A229’s architecture is clean and simple, and does not comply with free architectural gesture.
En constant search, A229 emphasize repetition to exception, development to testing, the duration to the event, common sense to sophistication.
Contrast as source of admiration and accuracy as source of balance.
The serial use of techniques and materials issue from industrial architecture (i.e. externalizing staircases to maximize the inside available space and reduce maintenance costs) or the prescription of raw materials contain a maximum the construction cost while giving a strong identity to the building.
The sustainability proposed has to be taken in a broad sense and includes installation, mobility management, accessibility for all, efficient use of energy and water, responsible use of materials, maximum flexibility, and anticipation of a minimal maintenance.
This clear vision enables us to show the emotion of an experience formally restrained and politically involved
