Trinkhall: Renovation and extension of the Madmusée

Programe: Renovation and expansion of areas housing the museum's permanent and temporary exhibitions, reserves and workshops, museum café, offices and pedagogical activity room.

About: Planted among the trees of the most central of Liège's parks, the Mad museum discreetly exudes the exciting vibes of the 1960s, the decade of its construction.
The building will be covered with a translucent skin that reveals the shadows, colours and light. The project sets out to meet the specifications of the exhibition area expansion program, but also to solve the technical problems that have plagued the building.
The polycarbonate envelope, punctured with large bay windows, develops along the path, in vertical alignment with the entry, a projection carried by a single column.
At night, the play of light and shadow and the silhouettes projected onto the facade give way to a bright screen. The museum then really comes into its own as a structuring element within the park, taking on the characteristics of a lantern at city scale.
