Programme
New collective housing construction on the site of the ancient Ducuroir industries. The two buildings present respectively 24 and 39 apartments, from which the half will be passive, and the other half will reach the standards of very low energy consumption housing.
About
Our project is located in a city block located between Van Volxem Avenue to the East and the railway to the West. It extends directly the neighbor lots. Each lot presents a specific feature of this area; to the North, a Master House and to the South, an industrial building. This strict alignment initiate two different widths of buildings: the eastside building displays 5 “3 bedrooms apartments” and 4 studios while the westside building displays 6 “2 bedrooms apartments”. The surrounding context dictates the orientation of the living rooms: on the hustle and bustle of the main avenue for the eastside building while the westside building opens up on the valley. The bedrooms enjoy the quietness of the inside court. The orientation East/West of the façade provides an excellent exposure to the sun. The general distribution tends to be as simple as possible: a carriage entrance from the avenue serves five entrances in the buildings in the main court. All residents also have access to the kitchen gardens.
