The creation of the center for the ceramic KERAMIS take place in a large re-convertion of the industrial site of the BOCH manufactory. At the center of this wide site, next to the towncenter and now almost completly teared down, the building hosting the ‘fours-bouteilles’ stands as the last memory of the heavy industrial past of La Louvière. Our approach is to enchor this preserved building to the existing and future urban context by giving it a broader basis. For this purpose, the new construction is shaped around the buildings and fold itself to create interactions between the different areas of the museum and the surroundings.
