Biennale of Rotterdam: two Belgian projects
© Maxime Delvaux This seventh edition of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR)–2016–THE NEXT ECONOMY– will begin the weekend of 22 to 24 April 2016.
The team CENTRAL / Maxime Delvaux / Eva Le Roi and Plusoffice / Wrkshp Collectif are the winners of the Atelier BXL Productive Metropolis, a Project Atelier organised by Architecture Workroom Brussels within the IABR.
This Atelier, organised in collaboration with the Brussels Master Architect, consists in design research into the appropriate typologies for a high-quality interweaving of habitation and workplaces in the city.
These 2 design teams were appointed to explore and portray the challenges and the future of the productive districts on the basis of two test areas each. In these areas, an examination will be made of the potency and essential spatial conditions that are necessary to be able to play a vital part in the development of the productive districts in the metropolitan area of Brussels, with habitation and work positively interwoven. Concrete spatial proposals are expected that can be employed for the actual practice of development. The intermediate and final results will form part of exhibitions and programmes for the public at IABR Rotterdam and BOZAR in Brussels.
With the support of Wallonia-Brussels International.
