Programme

Major transformation of a building into a collective day and night center, including 24 housing units, a social restaurant, 20 housing units for elderly residents, and interventions following a circular economy approach in Brussels.

About

This architectural and landscape project in Neder-Over-Hembeek transforms obsolete buildings into a sustainable and inclusive complex. By reusing their concrete structure, it reduces its carbon footprint and promotes a circular economy. It includes a community center with 24 housing units, a day center, and a social restaurant for adults with mental or behavioral disabilities, as well as 20 housing units for elderly residents.
The design prioritizes openness and urban integration by creating an inviting public garden that strengthens connections with the neighborhood. Its landscape design enhances biodiversity, manages stormwater efficiently, and helps mitigate urban heat islands. The project's compact layout frees up high-quality outdoor spaces while ensuring a seamless transition with its surroundings.
