Deconstructing to build better: Rotor gives a lecture in Toulouse

© Team Rotor On October 18, as part of National Architecture Days, the Maison de l'architecture Occitanie-Pyrénées is organizing a conference dedicated to the creation of cultural venues designed around reuse. To enrich this discussion, Victor Meesters, a member of the Rotor collective, has been invited to share his expertise and experiences.
This meeting is part of the F.L.I.R.T. (Fabrique du Lieu Idéal, Rencontres du Territoire) project, carried out in partnership with cultural and artistic organizations. The goal is to co-design and co-create a new space dedicated to architecture and the visual arts in Toulouse and the Occitanie region.
A Critical and Experimental Approach
Founded in the early 2000s, the Rotor collective has established itself as a key player in the reuse sector in Belgium.
A pioneer in the recovery of materials from deconstruction, Rotor has been working for over twenty years to demonstrate the relevance of transformation over demolition.
Beyond architectural practice, Rotor develops a critical reflection on material flows and how they shape our built environments. The collective explores these issues through research projects, architectural projects, and interior designs that question the sustainability, aesthetics, and memory of places.
Lecture with Victor Meesters, architect and designer, member of the Rotor collective
Architect and designer Victor Meesters joined the Rotor collective in 2014. He is responsible for developing projects throughout France, where he works as a consultant for project owners and architects, particularly on the challenges of deconstruction and the reuse of building materials.
Based between Brussels and Paris, he shares his expertise at the interface between design and implementation. At the same time, he develops a personal practice in scenography, carpentry, and interior design, which extends his thinking on the transformation of existing resources and the creative use of materials.
