Ready Made: a year of critical reflection with Koozarch and the OBEL Foundation

The KoozArch Reader devoted to the theme Ready Made brings together a year of reflection developed in collaboration with the OBEL Foundation, whose 2025 theme offers an in-depth examination of the foundations of contemporary architectural practice.

Through a series of texts, conversations and critical positions, the publication explores how architecture can enact a profound shift: moving from extraction to stewardship, from production to transformation, and from ownership to responsibility.

Conceived as both a thinking tool and a space for debate, the Kooz Reader – Ready Made invites architecture to suspend its constant pursuit of novelty and to focus instead on what already exists. It proposes a change in perspective—from invention to interpretation, from individual authorship to collective intelligence, and from extractive logics to practices of preservation, care and reactivation.

Architecture is thus approached not only as a discipline of formal production, but as a cultural, political and ecological practice, embedded within existing material, social and institutional frameworks.
