Les architectes belges s'engagent dans la reconstruction d'Ishinomaki.

Le projet Ishinomaki architecture workshop (IAW) est une initiative lancée par le Space Speculation urban design lab de la Faculté d'Architecture de l'Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), avec le soutien de Wallonie-Bruxelles International.

Le workshop a pour but d'aider la collectivité locale et les habitants d'Ishinomaki à planifier la reconstruction de leur ville, l'une des plus dévastées de la région, par le tsunami de mars 2011.

IAW rassemblera, du 22 juillet au 2 août 2011, à Ishinomaki au Japon, des académiques, des étudiants, des professionnels japonais et belges travaillant en collaboration avec les habitants et les associations locales afin de concevoir un projet de reconstruction durable pour la ville d'Ishinomaki. Cet atelier réparti sur trois thèmes se veut à la fois un brainstorming interdisciplinaire et un atelier de recherche par le projet.

Les thèmes abordés seront le paysage de front de mer avec la construction de digues de protection, la réorganisation des infrastructures de transports publics et des quartiers commerciaux et un projet de reconstruction de centre historique.
