KARBON' x BURR in Madrid
Conférence Cities Connection Project 23

© J. Van Belle - WBI On the occasion of the exhibition Cities Connection Project #7 - Architectures in Transition: reuse of built heritage and social responsibility, presented at the Gaviota space in Madrid from 25 June to 11 July 2025, we are pleased to propose a cross-conference between two committed architectural practices: Karbon' (Brussels) and BURR (Madrid). The event will take place on Wednesday 25 June 2025 at 7.30pm.
It is part of the Cities Connection project, which highlights contemporary architectural practices that are rooted in reality, sensitive to local contexts and to the major challenges of urban transformation.
Karbon', based in Brussels, is developing an approach that is attentive to use, social mix and participatory processes. Its projects reflect a constant desire to rethink the way the city is built. For its part, BURR, a young Madrid-based agency, explores the intersections between architecture, landscape and the social activation of spaces, with a marked focus on economy of means and the gentle transformation of existing buildings.
Why a joint conference?
Because bringing together the perspectives of two agencies rooted in distinct urban contexts - Brussels and Madrid - provides an opportunity to question the common issues that cut across Europe: reuse, density, ecological transition and spatial justice.
The aim of this discussion is to create a fertile space for exchange between professionals, the curious and those involved in the living environment.
