New video capsule: The Bridge
Project Albi, an extension of the city center
As part of its video series dedicated to contemporary architecture in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Wallonie-Bruxelles Architectures continues its collaboration with filmmaker Jonathan Ortegat. These short films highlight emblematic projects by architects from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, exploring their approaches, intentions and international reach.
The Albi cycling and pedestrian bridge
At the heart of Albi’s historic centre, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city-centre extension project designed by Ney & Partners in association with MSA creates a new urban continuity between the two banks of the River Tarn.
Through a continuous sequence of public spaces—alleys, squares, a garden, the cycling and pedestrian bridge and a public forecourt—the project extends the historic centre and strengthens soft mobility. More than a simple crossing, the bridge becomes a linear public space, revealing the site’s landscape qualities and anchoring the intervention sustainably within the city’s geography and everyday uses.
The video was directed by Jonathan Ortegat, who was joined on this project by:
🎥 Armelle Fouat, camera assistant
✂️ Xavier Vincké, editing
🎼 Loup Mormont, original music
🎨 Jean Forest, graphic design and animation
🎧 Jeanne Debarsy, sound mixing
🎞️ Lucien Keller, colour grading📷 Based on photographs by the Communauté d’Agglomération de l’Albigeois.
This film forms part of WBA’s broader initiative to promote the architecture of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation beyond its borders, by showcasing strong and distinctive contemporary practices.
A production by Auguri Films.
