Zurich hosts Cities Connection Project exhibition “15 Years of Comparative Architecture”

Following its first presentation in Barcelona, the Cities Connection Project – 15 Years of Comparative Architecture exhibition continues its European tour. From 30 October to 28 November 2026, it will be hosted by Architekturforum Zürich, offering a new perspective on fifteen years of exchange between European architectural scenes.

The exhibition will take place in two stages, in order to accommodate the size of the exhibition and the configuration of the venue.

From 30 October to 12 November, projects from Switzerland and Barcelona will be presented.

From 13 to 26 November, the exhibition will bring together projects from Switzerland and French-speaking Belgium.

WBA and Cities Connection Project will also organise a professional mission from 13 to 14 November, bringing together practices featured in the exhibition and members of the Swiss architectural community.

Fifteen years of European architecture in perspective

The exhibition is structured around two complementary levels:

The first serves as an archive of fifteen years of CCP. It brings together the 348 projects presented throughout the various editions, with the original panels reproduced in miniature and arranged chronologically by city. This timeline retraces the encounters and connections developed by CCP since its creation.
The second focuses on current challenges through a selection of 202 recent projects, including 50 from Wallonia-Brussels.

For the first time in CCP’s history, the projects are no longer grouped according to their geographical origin, but according to their programmatic affinities.

Five thematic clusters bring together different approaches to new forms of living, urban densification and regeneration through reuse, the renaturation of public space, collective facilities and infrastructure, and hybrid programmes.

This cross-cutting approach brings into dialogue architectural responses developed within different regulatory, cultural and economic contexts, highlighting concerns shared by European cities.
