Brussels-based architects Elisabeth Terrisse de Botton and Matthieu Brasebin will lead a workshop this summer as part of the Architectural Association School of Architecture Summer School 2026, taking place from 6 to 24 July 2026 in London.

Cry Me a River: exploring water as an architectural material

As part of the programme, Brasebin.Terrisse will lead the unit Cry Me a River, a workshop that takes as its starting point the close relationship between London and its hydraulic infrastructures — rivers, canals, fountains and reservoirs.

Through phases of observation, mapping and experimentation, students will investigate how water can be collected, stored and redirected in order to temporarily transform public space, particularly in a context of increasing urban heat.

The workshop will culminate in the collective design and construction of a 1:1 climatic device, capable of temporarily modifying its immediate environment and generating new forms of spatial occupation. Built from reclaimed materials, the pavilion will explore adaptable and collaborative modes of assembly.
