Cossement Cardoso wins 2nd place in the international competition for the new concert hall and music school in Lajes do Pico, Azores

The Belgo-Portuguese architectural office Cossement Cardoso has won 2nd place in the international competition for the design of the new concert hall and music school in Lajes do Pico, located in the Azores.

The project, situated on a lava platform with a marked horizontal orientation, seeks to integrate the architecture into the surrounding landscape. It is based on the idea of continuity between the built environment and the territory, using basalt stone walls and creating courtyards that establish a connection between the interior and exterior spaces. The building is part of a broader territorial and urban reorganization process, responding to the specificities of the site.
