On 10 October 2025, the École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Versailles welcomed Belgian artist and illustrator Eva Le Roi for a lecture entitled “Section, Materiality and Narration.”

The event focused on hand drawing as a means of exploring the relationship between built structures and their surrounding environments.

A dialogue between art and architecture

The lecture took place within the framework of the course La trajectoire des matériaux (The Trajectory of Materials), which invites students to reflect on the notions of materiality, transformation, and representation in architectural design.

The series addresses drawing as a critical and poetic act, capable of re-evaluating the role of matter in the design process.

Eva Le Roi regularly collaborates with architects and institutions, blending art, illustration and architecture in her projects.
In 2022, she had already transformed the façade of the Petites Écuries at ÉNSA Versailles with a monumental mural created for the exhibition Visible/Invisible, as part of the Île-de-France Architecture and Landscape Biennale.

Her work, both precise and dreamlike, highlights the power of drawing as a tool for architectural reflection.
