"Foooood" in Hamburg

On 9 August 2026, architect Johanna Bendlin took part in Kunst gucken in Hamburg with Foooood, a temporary installation developed in collaboration with Brussels-based practice Brasebin Terrisse and German-Bulgarian architect and urban planner Kristin Laz.

Held on the Wilhelmsburg site as part of the artistic programme associated with MS DOCKVILLE, this day dedicated to contemporary art and spatial interventions invites the public to discover installations, sculptures and performances conceived in dialogue with the landscape.

Temporarily inhabiting the landscape

Conceived as a public space for gathering, resting and collective appropriation, Foooood consists of fabric forms filled with reused soil. Arranged across the landscape, they become seating, topographical features and supports for different uses, inviting visitors to freely inhabit the installation.

The project thus explores how a temporary architectural intervention can generate collective uses while engaging with the site’s material and ecological cycles. After the event, the soil used in the installation will be returned to the landscape, contributing to its regeneration rather than becoming waste as a result of the installation’s temporary nature.

This attention to the afterlife of materials allows Foooood to bring together spatial experimentation, reuse and ecological processes, approaching the temporary as one stage within a longer cycle.
