Olivier Fourneau Architectes shortlisted for the Erich Mendelsohn Award with the Kurth project

The Kurth project in Liège, designed by Olivier Fourneau Architectes, has been shortlisted for the Erich Mendelsohn Award for Brick Architecture, an international award dedicated to brick architecture.

Organised every three years since 2008 by the German initiative Bauen mit Backstein, the award recognises projects that explore the architectural potential of brick, a material that is both traditional and open to new forms of construction and expression.

For this seventh edition, the jury reviewed more than 500 entries before selecting 99 projects and architecture practices from 18 countries for the final shortlist.

Kurth, a transformation in the heart of Liège

Located on Quai Godefroid Kurth in Liège, Olivier Fourneau’s project is set within a dense urban fabric shaped by the presence of the Meuse. The selection of Kurth notably highlights the project’s exploration of materiality and the use of brick within a contemporary architectural intervention.

The winners of the Erich Mendelsohn Award for Brick Architecture will be selected by the jury from among the shortlisted projects.
