Observing, debating, selecting
The jury experience unfolded as a genuine architectural journey. Over four days, its members travelled across Latvia to discover fifteen projects shortlisted among the country’s most significant recent architectural works.
After in-depth discussions and deliberations, five finalist projects were selected for their conceptual clarity and the quality of their execution:
- Timber Kindergarten in Salaspils, MADE arhitekti
- Reconstruction of “Lightguide” Production Buildings and Site, Antra Saknite, H2E, Ainavu studija
- Spatiality of the Border – Rehabilitation of the Latvian Eastern Frontier, BArch Marta Ventere, MArch Liena Šiliņa
- Augustine’s Garden, Sampling
- Children’s Clinical University Hospital Outpatient Center and Emergency Center, Mark arhitekti with ALPS ainavu darbnīca, Kārlis Alainis and Dizaina birojs H2E
The Gran Prize was awarded to the Timber Kindergarten in Salaspils, designed by MADE arhitekti, recognised for its sensitive use of timber and its thoughtful articulation between architecture and pedagogy within a natural setting.
The participation of Olivier Fourneau follows that of Élodie Degavre, invited by the Latvian Association of Architects to join the jury of the 29th edition in 2024. These successive invitations highlight the growing recognition of architectural practices from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles within the European architectural landscape.
