Presentation in Nancy of the book Une sobriété créative, Louis Bosny, Architecte 1924- 1983.

On Tuesday 22 April, the Maison de l'architecture de Lorraine will be welcoming Pierre Hebbelinck, architect and founder of the Fourre-Tout publishing house, and Jean-Michel Degraeve, architect, historian and author of the book Une sobriété créative, Louis Bosny, Architecte 1924-1983. Together, they will present this work, which retraces in detail the life and architectural work of Louis Bosny.

Despite all their qualities, Louis Bosny's work has not been recognised for its true worth and has been forgotten. Only his house on rue Henri Maus in Liège, which he designed for himself and his family, was known to architects and enthusiasts. The founder of Éditions Fourre-Tout, Pierre Hebbelinck, had long been planning to publish a book about this remarkable house. Sacha Boutsen's final year dissertation on Louis Bosny's house had also highlighted the architect's activities in the field of social housing. This discovery prompted the editorial team to ask architect and historian Jean-Michel Degraeve to produce a book on the work of Louis Bosny as a whole. His research resulted in a richly documented work that retraces Bosny's life and career in detail, placing his work in the socio-political context of his time.

Jean-Michel Degraeve met Louis Bosny's family, immersed himself in his life and was able to salvage archive collections that enabled him to reveal the singularity of a discreet man and the conceptual thinking reflected in his architecture.
And through his exceptional commitment, the architect Louis Bosny becomes, in this work, an active witness to the history of the social architecture of his time.
