Description: Matador is a Brussels-based architecture practice defined by its critical stance, ethical commitment, cultural vocation and ambition to go beyond strictly programmatic requirements.
Its work encompasses competitions, public tenders and projects at a wide range of scales, from private houses to major collective developments and public buildings for cultural or administrative use. Its practice spans architecture, interior architecture, furniture design, public space, museum exhibition design and theatre scenography.
If the practice were to put forward one certainty, it would be precisely the absence of any preconceived certainties that architecture would seek to demonstrate, embody or repeatedly reaffirm.
Despite its clearly held convictions, the practice therefore develops an architecture of situation, in which each project seeks above all to respond as precisely as possible to the potential of the site and the ambitions of the programme.
