Project

Farmhouse in Pailhe

Architect

Olivier Fourneau Architectes scprl

Programme
Conversion of a farm into seven dwellings
About
This farm is located in a tiny village in rural Wallonia. Abandoned since the agricultural activity was discontinued, the farm offered interesting architectural features such as vaults, carved stone columns and nice volumes. The project consisted in creating seven living units, each one of them offering some diversity and grasping the built and unbuilt characteristics of the site. The frugal attitude, known in rural communities, has been mimicked: balanced interventions, deconstruction, re-use, surface permeabilization, ... The project thus preserved the place, offering a discreet yet refined conversion.
