Winson Space – Community Centre

Architect

RESERVOIR A

Programme

Scattered throughout the town, the premises of the Fosses-la-Ville municipal administration had become too small, and the town hall on a plot of land in the centre offered no possibility of expansion. At the end of 2008, in order to meet its new needs, the municipality turned its attention to the 12th-century Château Winson and its incredible three-hectare estate protected by a surrounding wall. The municipality used several strategies to ensure that the site remained in its current state, including listing the wall on the conservation list and modifying the sector plan.

About

It became the owner in 2009 and launched an architectural competition. The architectural and landscaping proposal by AM RÉSERVOIR A, A+11, Piron Architectes with Atelier Paysage formalises a major link in the service of the citizen's journey and spatial experience. The new public facility dedicated to transforming Winson Castle into a community centre, cultural centre and premises for the CPAS (Public Social Welfare Centre) highlights the historic building while standing out with its contemporary architectural style.
