Programme

Design of an ephemeral garden for the Luxembourg festival of urban gardens in Luxembourg (LUGA 2025).

About

For the LUGA 2025 edition, Studio SNCDA thought of conceiving an ‘hortus conclusus’ that aims to rediscover the history of a place through the reactivation of its history and forgotten uses. Endymion is a garden that offers solutions for the development of new natural forms in the city: plants, animals, water, fire and wind.

The design of the garden is based on how nature encounters the city. The idea of the installation was born from the desire to create a place capable of transmitting a synesthetic experience involving different sensations. The result we are aiming for is that of an installation composed of essential elements and minimal interventions. Three objects accompany and complete the planted garden of Endymion which can be reinterpreted as an allegory of the Greek myth of the human quest for the ideal garden. Designed from the history of the place, each object represents a different way of inhabiting space.
