Artist in Residence program - Center for Culture and the Mind

The Centre for Culture and the Mind is inviting all artists to apply for our very first Artist in Residence program, which awards sponsored residencies to working artists in 2026.
Artists selected for this program can be in any career stage and work in all media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, fiber arts, photography, film, video, new media, fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, playwriting, screenwriting, graphic narrative, performance, dance, choreography, music, interdisciplinary social practice, arts professionals, environmental art, tech art/gaming art and architecture.
This residency invites artists whose work engages with questions central to the CultMind Centre’s mission, particularly those whose practices resonate with our research strands or the following themes:
- Trauma and Resilience
- Human Sciences
- Creative Therapeutics
- Migration
What the residency offers
- A combined stipend and production budget of up to 100,000 DKK to support your time during the residency. This total amount can be used for artist fees, materials, collaborators, and research-related expenses.
- Desk or work space
- Engagement with researchers across the Centre’s research strands
- Access to relevant archives, seminars, and academic events
- A platform to present your work, whether through an exhibition, reading, talk, or experimental public engagement format
- Optional mentorship, dialogue sessions, or critical feedback from CultMind researchers

- Statement of Interest (max 1 page), which answers the following questions:
- How does your work connect to the CultMind Centre’s themes?
- What do you hope to explore during the residency?
- How long would you like to stay at the Centre, and what are your preferred dates?
- Portfolio or Samples of Work
- Short Bio or CV (max 2 pages)
- Preliminary budget
The closing date for applications is 15 September 2025 and shortlisted applicants will be invited for a conversation with the CultMind team by 15 October.
