The 40 shortlisted projects for the EUmies Awards unveiled
On 17 January, the jury of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Awards, chaired by Frédéric Druot, unveiled from Dublin the projects shortlisted for the biennial European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture. 40 works are examples of how architects continue to undertake the need to design to live responsibly, ethically, and environmentally and that Architecture, Urban Planning and Governance need to work together in an even stronger way to achieve long term city projects.
The Belgian projects selected include
- Amal Amjahid - Community facility along the canal in Molenbeek by &bogdan
- Fire station, multi-purpose space and emergency room by SNCDA
- FLOW - Outdoor swimming pool by Pool is Cool and Decoratelier Jozef Wouters
- Het Steen by noAarchitecte
During the next phase of the prize, which will take place in February, the five finalists will be selected from these 40 projects. Finally, in mid-April, the winners of the two categories, architects and emerging architects, will be announced. The EUmies Awards Day, which includes the prize-giving ceremony, will take place on 13 and 14 May 2024 at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona, during a day that will include lectures by the authors of the winning and finalist projects, debates with architects, clients, political decision-makers and the general public.
