Brussels Housing in Paris
On September 29 at 7.30pm in Paris, VOLUME is organizing a meeting to discuss the publication Brussels Housing.Urban terraced or row houses first appeared in Europe in the 17th century. Generally two to three storeys high, with a garden to the rear, they formed the traditional urban block. In Brussels, this type of bourgeois housing has taken on a particularly varied form - including Art Nouveau residences - and constitutes the soul of the city. In BRUSSELS HOUSING, Gérald LEDENT and Alessandro POROTTO analyze one hundred examples illustrating the emergence of the terraced house and its subsequent development into other forms of housing. The result is a broad overview and history of the architecture and development of the city of Brussels, with its particularly heterogeneous urban landscape. With the support of Wallonie-Bruxelles International.
