Lecture series on the New Bauhaus
On 14 October 2020, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced the creation of a "new European Bauhaus". This movement invites all European actors from the creative and building disciplines "to imagine and build a sustainable, inclusive and aesthetic future for the heart and mind".The new European Bauhaus is a process of co-creation. A dialogue through open discussions will be established in its three phases: co-design, realisation and dissemination. As part of the first phase, two online conferences are being organised in the coming weeks. These conferences are free of charge and open to all by simple registration. The first conference, the New European Bauhaus Conference, is organised by the European Commission on 22 and 23 April 2021. It will look at the vision and timetable of the new European Bauhaus. Leading figures in European and international architecture will be invited to speak on various topics around the New European Bauhaus. The second conference is organised by the New European Bauhaus Collective (NEBC) created by several organisations representing the cultural and creative sectors, including the Architects' Council of Europe, on 29 April 2021. The NEBC is also an official partner of the New European Bauhaus. This conference is a follow-up to the joint declaration that the NEBC has issued. Its theme is "COMMON GROUND : Making the renovation wave a cultural project". It will explore culture as a key factor in the quality of the built environment. 11 thematic discussions will then be held on issues of importance to the new European Bauhaus.
