The group SteinmetzDeMeyer architects, scenographer Jangled Nerves, Ney & Partners and Betic won the competition for the Luxembourg pavilion for the next World expo with the project named Doki-Doki Lu. Doki-Doki is the Japanese sound word that stands for the heartbeat, and refers to enthusiasm, excitement, energy and passion. The pavilion consists of several volumes covered by a stretched canvas that is visible from afar and will be animated by light at night. It will highlight Luxembourg’s know-how in the field of circular economy, shows respect for materials, and is built with standard and reusable Japanese materials. The dimensions are based on those of the tatami.

The World Expo will run from 13 April to 13 October 2025 on the artificial island of Yumeshima, near Osaka.
