About: Context
The aim of the project is to convert old farm buildings into 4 grouped housing units, in addition to the new construction of 3 earth-and-straw houses and a communal house. The site is located on the crest of a valley and opens onto a hilly landscape facing south.

Project
The project aims to create a link between an existing building heritage in need of renovation and ecological new construction. The grouped housing programme calls for the creation of a new centrality in the project - a role hitherto fulfilled by the old farmyard. This quest for centrality has guided the siting of the community centre at the heart of the project, linking the new buildings with the existing buildings around the courtyard. The setback from the road was determined by the need to preserve a remarkable tree. The community centre distributes traffic on the site and is thus at the heart of the crossroads - fully playing its role as a social activator within the grouped housing and as a bridge with the existing neighbourhood.
