Jonathan Ortegat presents "Des attentions" at the Amiens International Film Festival

© Jonathan Ortegat How can we care for a place, a territory or the people who inhabit it?
This is the question at the heart of Des attentions, a film by photographer and filmmaker Jonathan Ortegat, which will be screened at the 2026 Amiens International Film Festival.
Moving between Belgium and France, the film focuses on everyday gestures of care, sometimes barely perceptible, that help maintain places, repair what is deteriorating and preserve living things. In territories shaped by their mining history, care extends beyond people’s bodies to encompass landscapes, uses and the relationships that develop between inhabitants and their surroundings.
A different way of looking at places in transition
Des attentions emerged from a cross-border research residency held in 2025 between Denain, in the Hauts-de-France region, and La Louvière, in Belgium. Entitled Hospitalités en miroir, the residency explored two hospitals scheduled to relocate: the Centre hospitalier de Denain and CHU Helora – Jolimont site.
What becomes of these places when they lose their original function?
How can we imagine their future while taking their history and the needs of local residents into account?
To explore these questions, five professionals brought their perspectives together: architect Lucas Meliani, architect and anthropologist Juliette Charron, urban planning architects Maxime Jaume and Lucile Pujol, and Jonathan Ortegat.
Together, they explored these two territories and what their transformation reveals about how we inhabit places, care for one another and make room for living things. Jonathan Ortegat was responsible for the film’s cinematography, sound and editing, extending this collective investigation through a sensitive approach attentive to everyday gestures.
A collective research project brought to the screen
Led by the Maison de l’Architecture des Hauts-de-France and the Réseau des maisons de l’architecture, the residency also resulted in a codex bringing together the research conducted at both sites.
With Des attentions, the team invites us to look differently at places in transition: not simply as buildings destined to take on new functions, but as spaces shaped by memory, practices and relationships, from which new stories can emerge.
