About
THE ARCHITECTURAL PARTY The project is in the form of an islet whose the main perspective is directed towards the city park located in the axis of the courthouse and ensuring pedestrian connection towards the city center of Namur. The opening of the building towards the city center is voluntarily expressed in its implantation. The courthouse presents the typology of the type islet of the city of Namur, receiving in its center the concourse (or waiting hall), considered as a public space. Courts of justice are developped both sides of this waiting hall, who is a spacious interior covered by a glass roof that floods this hall of light, and where users are moving, cross and expect. The Assize Court is the culmination of this journey. Along this axis are organized on two levels, the various jurisdictions. Between courtrooms, patios create skylights to take advantage of natural light into the courtrooms. The entire building will be heated and cooled using geothermal energy. Overall energy consumption will be equivalent to 40% of consumption of a same building built to regulatory standards.
