This building was conceived as an ‘urban object’ with the objective to create an independent hub for the articulation of the different public adjacent spaces. As such, it is seen as a ‘lighthouse’ running alongside Place Vivegnis and emphasizing the ending of the neighbouring industrial building. Its footprint has been kept to a minimum in order to free up room for parking spaces and to create a covered terrace for the shop-restaurant. The dwellings offer a level of adaptability making it possible to convert the loft-like artist apartments into 2-bedroom apartments without having to alter any technical installations. The living spaces occupy the front of the building in a quite transparent manner, opening themselves up as much as possible to the public space. By contrast, the sleeping spaces have been placed behind a more opaque façade.
