- About
This work began in 1989 and has been the subject of ongoing commissions spanning 36 years. It continues today. A first book was published in 2005 by Éditions Fourre-Tout, with the following introduction:
« This book recounts two moments, or rather two stages, in the creative process. The first, singularly long, consists of the conception and continuous, unfinished realization over 17 years of a space molded to a person (Dido Dejardin). It is the story of a singular multi-commission (an average of two commissions per year) embracing spatial subjects and simple objects, unfulfilled desires, even simple, unproductive contemplations. This place gradually became the laboratory for these statements. The second phase was particularly brief, when photographer Marie-Françoise Plissart discovered the place. Her infectious enthusiasm was instantly apparent as she photographed two series of 30 images highlighting the mobile, mechanistic, and physical aspects of this dwelling. These two moments are linked in a book with multiple manipulations reflecting this fabric of time. »
This relationship and the countless requests have provided the workshop with a kind of permanent laboratory for developing structural research, initially focusing mainly on sheet metal work and furniture projects (tables, desks, armchairs, kitchens, coat racks, sliding furniture, steel wine cellars, door mechanisms, etc.). Currently under study: a table and meditation terrace under the tree saved from the storm.
The 2015 extension increased this research dynamic with engineer Vincent Servais and owner and industrialist Dido Dejardin.
These experiments made it possible to anticipate variations developed in the context of public works projects.
Friendship and poetry have been a constant driving force behind this applied research.
