BAUKUNST/BRUTHER: Paris Saclay nominated to Mies Award
© WBA The European Commission and Fundació Mies van der Rohe have announced the list of 85 works nominated in the second phase that are competing for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award 2022. These works join the first list of 449 nominated projects that was presented on 2 February, making the 2022 edition the one with the most nominated proposals for the Prize since its creation in 1988 with a total of 534 works completed between October 2018 and April 2021 in 41 countries.
Among the 85 new projects - Paris Saclay by Bruther/Baukunst. The building combines a student residence and convertible parking lot within the Paris-Saclay campus.
Located in the heart of the Ecole Polytechnique district, as part of the Master Plan carried out by the team of Xaveer De Geyter Architects, in collaboration with the landscaper Michel Desvignes. The project takes the side of an indifferent superimposition of programs within an inhabited structure allowing versatility and reversibility of uses.
The selection of 40 shortlisted works will be announced in January, the winners will be announced in April and the award ceremony will take place in May 2022.
