Building a red concrete garden workshop
- About
The project involves the construction of a unique garden pavilion that serves as a workshop and covered terrace. Designed to be a contemporary architectural landmark, the building is positioned at a right angle to the existing house, creating a more intimate rear space. The use of red concrete as the sole building material gives the structure a distinct visual impact. The roof's steep slope and folding design provide a dialogue with the sky, while a slanted fold in the roof creates a sheltered terrace and lets in natural light. Inside, the workshop space is simple yet elegant, with a sculpted skylight at one end. The pavilion rests on a plinth, also made of red concrete, which complements the rear terrace and the garden. The overall design aligns with the house's brickwork and incorporates timber formwork on the concrete, giving it a more humanized appearance.
