DESS(E)INS n°1 : LUTTRE

BRUSSELS. MAJOR RENOVATION OF A FORMER INDUSTRIAL BUILDING INTO 63 SOCIAL HOUSING UNITS AND 4,200 M² OF OFFICE SPACE.

Galileo, Luttre, Cuesmes, Fives Cail, the renovation of Maison Folie, Hannut, Maubeuge... Completing seven major projects between 2026 and 2028 is no small feat!

The Brussels-based architecture office Matador aims not only to communicate about these projects, but also to reflect retrospectively on its work and assess it against the reality of what has been built.

The title of its publication series, DESS(E)INS, uses parentheses to suggest an alternative between dessins (drawings) and desseins (intentions). Yet the choice is not optional. DESS(E)INS asserts the inseparable connection between mind and hand, thought and execution, intention and hypothesis, and their testing through drawing and construction.

The first issue was published on 23 September and is dedicated to the Luttre project, the major renovation of a former industrial building into 63 social housing units and 4,200 m² of office space.

To obtain a copy of the first issue dedicated to Luttre, simply send a request to info@matador.be.
