Programme: The project involves the design of 75 housing units in the center of Differdange.

About: The project « Les Terrasses de Differdange » forms part of the broader redevelopment strategy for the town centre of Differdange, proposing a new way of inhabiting sloping terrain. Conceived as a transitional neighbourhood between the urban environment and the natural landscape, it establishes a continuous link between the surrounding hills and the urban promenade at the foot of the site, offering a more cohesive reading of the territory.
The steep topography, orientation, and quality of views provided the foundation for the project. The terraced layout connects the upper and lower parts of the town while enhancing long-distance perspectives. The development comprises 75 dwellings distributed across nine residential buildings, arranged in three successive rows, fostering both residents’ privacy and the creation of shared spaces for interaction.
The project employs a timber structure and bio-based and geo-sourced materials, selected for their low environmental impact.
The landscape design naturally anchors the development at the edge of the forest, contributing to the creation of a living environment in direct relationship with the surrounding landscape.
Here, inhabiting the slope becomes a way of opening the dwelling onto the wider territory.
