- About
The project is part of a masterplan to convert former railway lines into landscaped spaces, extending the existing landscaping of the Tour et Taxis public park. At a park-wide scale, the main interventions focus on maintaining the continuity of existing pedestrian walkways and creating new connections with surrounding public spaces, particularly with Place de Bockstael, the terminus of the park’s pedestrian promenade. Leveraging the site’s topography, which currently encloses the park, several interventions have been introduced along the promenade to create new connections and improve accessibility to the surrounding neighborhood. One of the most prominent interventions is a new footbridge connecting the park's lowest point with an existing bridge. The structure reduces its support points to minimize the impact of its foundations on the environment. The footbridge is carefully positioned to align with the site’s topography. Its curved shape provides the necessary length to span the significant elevation difference, while also creating a new entrance beneath the existing bridge.
