About

The way we consume the resources we need to build and feed ourselves, the tools we use to communicate and trade, and ourexcessive individualism all need to be radically changed if we are to reduce the unbearable pressure they exert on our host environments. 

This citizens' project is a new Trojan horse. Set up in a place where people can share, meet and experiment, itproposes the co-construction of a robust and educational facility, a link-weaver for the Bourdon district. The project tends towards a certain exemplarity in its materiality and the techniques used to build it. Over the years, the various meetings and participative worksites have influenced, asserted and supported the societal behaviours that led to its creation: the transmission of ideas, knowledgeand know-how, the maintenance of sectors, the experimentation of techniques, the sharing of moments, cooperation and mutual aid. They offer us, the residents, the means to think about and make adjustments to our daily lives. 

FOUR À LIER, committed citizens,Alain Feaux (oven master) and Dimitri Fache (Usages architect) are overseeing the construction of the greenhouse oven.The kiln isbuilt from BTC, raw earth bricks (excavated earth from Brussels - BC materials), the filling is made from crushed stone and concretefrom a nearby demolition site, while the chimney and oven chapel are made of recycled terracotta bricks.The structure of the greenhouse was designed and prefabricated by students during the Simple Constructions course run by Dimitri Fache (Usages)  from UCL LOCI Tournai faculty of architecture). Transported to the Roseraie site in pieces, it is painted with homemade Falun red and black.  

In 2025, the greenhouse structure will be assembled. To this end, several participative workcamps and bakery workshops will be organised and will continue to create links in the neigbourghood.
