Programme

Construction of a community pavilion within a park

About

The project focuses on the development of a public space and the creation of a community pavilion as part of the “Green and Blue Network in Urban Areas” call for projects. It is embedded within a broader strategy of urban continuity at the scale of the city of Waremme and is located within the Brouck Park, developed by Atelier CUP.

Our mission concerns the construction of the community pavilion. It is a rectangular building with a pitched roof, in keeping with the traditional typology of the surrounding context. Its simple form makes it an easily adaptable space for a variety of activities, whether cultural, sporting, or festive. The positioning of the building recreates a coherent built frontage while allowing open views toward the park from the street, thanks to a high level of transparency between interior and exterior spaces. The building is designed in a rational manner, using traditional and modular construction techniques.

The interior is conceived to offer great flexibility of use, notably through the arrangement of functions within two lateral load-bearing blocks, which frees up an open central space. This principle provides a compact volume and allows for easy adaptation to potential future changes in use.
