Conversion of a store into 39 appartements and two shops.
- About
An iconic and unmissable building in the municipality of Jemeppe-sur-Meuse, listed in the inventory of Wallonia’s cultural real estate heritage, the ‘Grand Bazar’ is being rehabilitated into 39 housing units.
This 1954 modernist-style building, made of light brick and concrete, is characterized by its rounded shape facing the Place des Quatre Grands, making it a true landmark in the city. The main goal is to respect the building’s heritage value while offering high-quality housing.
To preserve the vibrancy of the square, the fully glazed ground floor—topped with a white-painted concrete canopy—will retain its commercial function while also providing spacious entrance halls.
The solid, high-ceilinged first floor, with its vertical openings that follow the curve of the façade, will remain the signature element of the building. An added elevation will offer large terraces to the top-floor apartments. The project aims to provide a mix of housing types on each level, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments. A 200m² shared rooftop will be accessible to all co-owners.
