Programme: Conversion of a dwelling to create two separate living spaces (kangaroo house)

About: Transformation and extension of a single-family house to create a “kangaroo” housing arrangement composed of two stacked dwellings.
Due to the natural slope of the site, the existing house included several cellars and a garage at garden level that were rarely used. The client and her daughter wished to adapt the house over time to suit their evolving needs, retaining the existing dwelling — directly accessible from the street — while making use of the underutilized garden-level spaces to create a second unit.
The addition of an extension and internal alterations made it possible to provide a new, comfortable ground-floor dwelling with direct access to the garden, along with a large terrace adjoining the existing unit.
