Model. Barcelona
The second edition of Model. Barcelona Architectures Festival already has dates. From 20 to 30 April 2023 the event born last year as a space for open, plural and multidisciplinary reflection where the main debates on architecture and urban planning can be addressed, will be held once again.
Last year, Barcelona City Council and the Col·legi d'Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC) promoted the festival as the first major event of the UIA-Unesco World Architecture Capital of Barcelona 2026, which is now being consolidated to once again turn the public space into a great civic festival in which to reflect and think about the Barcelona of tomorrow.
The new edition of Model. Barcelona Architectures Festival is managed by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, with Eva Franch i Gilabert as Artistic Director. It picks up the legacy of the first festival and will be presenting installations in public spaces, augmented realities, symposiums, workshops and experimental programmes, among other things, which together will create a space for learning, exchanging, and disseminating ideas.
As a novelty in the preparation of this year's edition, the Model Award for Architectural Experimentation has been created. This is an open call for creators to design the installations and form part of the creative team that will manage this great city event.
The Model Awards for Architectural Experimentation will be awarded to groups or individuals and consist of sum of moneyand the opportunity to develop the winning proposal during the Model 2023 edition in the city of Barcelona. The Model Awards are divided into three categories.:
Model Award for Installations: aims to support the production of projects that promote new ways of occupying, programming and building public space.
