International Open Call for the 14th São Paulo International Architecture Biennale Exhibition and Activities

Submissions are open until April 28 for proposals for the Exhibition and Activities of the 14th São Paulo International Architecture Biennale - Extremes: Architectures for an Overheated Planet.

Projects, whether implemented or not, experimental constructions, audiovisual productions, lectures, performances, and workshops can participate in the event, which will take place from September 18 to October 19, 2025, at Ibirapuera Park, in the Oca Pavilion, designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the early 1950s.

The curatorial concept of this edition starts from the understanding that we live in times of climatic extremes, demanding radical and innovative solutions from architecture. The point of no return challenges us to rethink how we inhabit the planet, seeking answers both in scientific vanguards and in the knowledge from the margins: urban peripheries, villages, and quilombos. The Biennale will be a convergence space for knowledge, presenting concrete responses to global warming and adaptation to the extreme events we already face.

We invite proposals produced within these different forms of knowledge, as well as through dialogue, friction, and mutual learning between them, coming from Brazil and other countries. They should align with one or more of the event's curatorial axes:

1. Preserving Forests and Reforesting Cities
2. Embracing Water
3. Refurbishing More and Building Green
4. Moving and Reaching Places Together with Renewable Energies
5. Ensuring Climate Justice and Social Housing

In addition to proposals for the exhibition and activities, there is a call for works from architecture schools (deadline April 20) and for scientific works (deadline April 21). Participation in all calls is free, and registration is done through the website.
