Construction of a student residence service

About

The architectural and technical proposals stem from a range of constraints related both to the programme and to the site. The project provides for the development of a 100-room student residence, together with associated shared facilities (laundry room, lobby and common lounge, study room, shared space on each level, etc.), as well as 28 parking spaces. The residence is organised into four buildings (A, B, C and D).

The main building (A) is positioned along Rue de l’Été and rises to R+3, with a recessed top floor and one basement level. This front building accommodates 72 student rooms in addition to the main shared facilities.

The existing structures within the interior of the block are demolished and replaced with new low-rise volumes (R+1 and R+2), arranged around gardens, terraces and shared outdoor spaces.

Building B, with a height of R+1, contains four studio units designed to meet the needs of residents with different profiles (doctoral candidates, teaching assistants, etc.), thereby introducing programmatic diversity within the residence.

Buildings C and D, each rising to R+2, are positioned against the party wall of the GB commercial building located at the rear of the plot. Their placement helps screen views towards the commercial roofscape while orienting the units towards the shared garden laid out at the centre of the block.

The main building (A) includes a basement level accommodating 28 parking spaces, technical rooms, a bicycle storage area and a shared laundry room, all directly accessible from the internal circulation core.
